Jaker's Pumpkin Patch

We like to visit a Pumpkin Patch the night before Halloween to get pumpkins (they are so cheap!) and play for a bit. Last year we went to the Red Barn, but it is in Santaquin and you have to take a hay ride to get to the pumpkins and fun stuff. It was rainy and I wasn't sure how to go about doing that with a newborn.

Fortunately we live in Utah and there is a pumpkin patch on every corner. ;) So we went to Jaker's in Springville. It was super kid friendly and easy to push a stroller around. We got our annual pumpkin patch pictures, picked pumpkins (Brady picked a rotting one... note to self: check the pumpkins your kids pick before saying yes), and played at all the "attractions". It was fun and I had to promise to Ryan we would go next year.

The boys went in a hay stack maze, looked at some farm animals, went down some slides, played in corn kernels, and attempted to go into a "haunted house". Ryan wanted to go in it, but then got scared when they were about to go in. (Honestly it was very very lame, good for kids). Jared brought them to the car and Ryan said he actually did want to try going in again. But it was already pretty dark and we were at the car so we told him no. He whined about this for like three hours. He kept saying how it was our fault, not his, that he didn't get to go and then it was his fault, then it was no ones fault, then it was our fault again. He said daddy should have come home earlier so we could be there earlier and it wouldn't have been dark. He said "Next time force me to do it." It was really funny. Dwelling on things is a new thing for this four-year-old. A few months ago he said to me, "But I just can't stop thinking about it." It's cute to see how he deals with it. And this is why we had to promise we would go again next year. :)

Here are our pumpkins! Ryan's is scary. Mine is scared of Ryan's. And Brady's is just a happy Jack-o-Lantern.

I love this tradition. It will be fun to see what we do next year.
